This unique itinerary is one of our longest running and most popular walks. This walk takes us around the dominating peak of Cradle Mountain and incorporates camping, cabin accommodation, short walks and lightweight backpacking.
The Cradle Mountain area is dotted with alpine tarns, lakes, temperate rainforest, waterfalls and sub-alpine terrain. On this four-day trip we incorporate the myriad of amazing natural attractions that make up this area. Our walk around Cradle commences with a traverse over Hansons Peak. From this height we can see across the plains to the highland peaks of the Walls of Jerusalem National Park. Our walk continues and takes us past the landmarks ‘The Twisted Lakes’ and ‘Artists Pool’. We overnight by the peaceful Lake Rodway in the shadow of Cradle Mountain.
Following some of the lessor walked trails we see how the mountain changes and is perceived differently from its many angles. We have the opportunity to climb the mountain and view the spectacular surrounds and enjoy a different perspective of the route we have walked.
This diverse trip incorporates the best of the walking opportunities in this area and our guides will ensure you have ample time to relax and enjoy the many unique highlights of this trip. Our accommodation is a mix of cosy cabins with hot showers and a wilderness campsite. Join us for this wonderful trip which delivers a unique balance of wilderness, fun, comforts, panoramic views and wildlife in the serene and peaceful surrounds of Tasmania’s iconic Cradle Mountain area.
